The Next Chapter in My Mystical, Magical Life Series

and times when it sends a parade of messengers right to your door.
Most of my mystical experiences have arrived in dreams, intuition, or sudden knowing. But there was a particular period in my life — one full of uncertain questions, fear about my future, and deep doubt about my spiritual path — when the messages didn’t come from the heavens.
They came on four legs.
On wings.
With feathers.
With fur.
With buzzing persistence.
The Peacocks Who Knocked
It started one quiet morning when I heard someone knocking at my front door.
I went to answer it, expecting a delivery or a neighbor — but instead, I found two peacocks standing on my porch.
One perched elegantly on the banister.
The other was standing on the deck, tapping at my door with its beak.
Two peacocks.
Knocking.
At that time, I was seriously questioning my direction — wondering if I should continue with astrology or give up and go back to the “practical” world. So I looked up the meaning of peacocks, thinking maybe there was something there for me.
The message practically blazed off the page:
-
Transformation
-
Spirit communication
-
Confidence and self-expression
-
Clarity on your life path
-
Healing and protection
It was as if the Universe had sent two feathered shamans to say,
“You’re on the right path. Don’t leave your calling.”
And they knocked to make sure I heard it.
The Two Deer Who Answered My Question
Not long after, I asked the Universe for a sign — something clear, something undeniable — to show me whether I was still aligned with my purpose.
Almost instantly, movement outside my dining room window caught my eye.
Two deer stood in my yard, perfectly still, watching me.
I burst out laughing.
My Mayan astrology symbol is literally 2 Deer.
Spirit wasn’t being subtle.
It didn’t want me to miss the message:
“Yes. You’re where you’re meant to be.”
The Eagle’s Strange Gift
But doubt likes to creep back in, doesn’t it?
I found myself again questioning whether I belonged in spiritual work — why it felt so meaningful, yet so often financially difficult.
One afternoon, I sat on my porch, looking up at the sky, feeling disconnected and disheartened. A bald eagle flew overhead — majestic, powerful, unmistakable.
Then something dropped from its talons.
Feathers floated down.
I walked to where they landed.
It was a duck wing.
A fully intact duck wing.
Gross? Yes.
Weird? Absolutely.
Meaningful? Completely.
In shamanic wisdom, Eagle is Spirit.
The messenger.
The bridge between heaven and earth.
And here Spirit was dropping a gift — right in front of me — as if to say,
“I hear you. I’m still with you. Don’t lose faith.”
Zeus, the Dog Who Chose Me
Around that same period, a dog began escaping from his home and showing up at mine.
I named him Zeus.
The first time he arrived, he still had his rope leash attached — chewed through as if he’d freed himself to find me. I returned him to his owners.
The next day, he came back again… shaking, scared, practically begging to be let in.
Something in me knew he wasn’t safe where he was.
Over time, I realized something else too:
Zeus had chosen me.
He wanted to spend his last days with someone who would love him.
You see, he had terminal cancer.
The vet said to put him down, but he was so joyful, tail wagging, bounding around — I couldn’t do it. So I brought him home, fed him, held him, and comforted him.
He passed peacefully in his sleep a few weeks later, in my bedroom, on a soft bed, knowing he was loved.
I cried for him, but I also thanked him.
He reminded me that sometimes the healer doesn’t choose the one to heal.
Sometimes the one in need chooses you.
The Bees Who Brought the Message of Abundance
And then there were the bees.
Every afternoon, I’d sit outside, and bumblebees or honeybees would hover around me — flying close, circling me, landing directly in front of me as if insisting on a conversation.
One day, a bee landed right on the patio table, staring at me.
I said, “Okay… what do you want me to know?”
I went inside, grabbed my animal spirit deck, and shuffled with the bee still on my mind.
I drew the Bee card.
The message?
Abundance.
Prosperity.
Community.
Fertile creation.
Everything I needed to hear as I wondered — yet again — whether I should keep going in my spiritual work.
The message was clear:
“Stay the course. The sweetness is coming.”
Looking Back
It’s funny, really.
When I look back at that time in my life, I see the pattern so clearly:
Every time I doubted myself…
Every time I questioned my calling…
Every time I asked for directions…
The animals showed up.
Guiding.
Comforting.
Reminding.
Reassuring.
In their own quiet, wild, surprising ways, they said the same thing:
“You are not alone. You are guided. Keep going.”
And so I did.
If you’ve had animal interactions in your life that guided you in some way, please share them here.
